How the Index scores firms

The Index ranks firms for one specific job: changing what a Florida principal's search results and AI answers say. This page explains the criteria, the weights and the evidence behind every score.

Reviewed by the Index editorial desk · Updated October 2026

Scope

The Index evaluates firms that serve Florida clients for online reputation management, search suppression, de-indexing, crisis communications and AI answer correction. It is written for executives, physicians, attorneys, family offices and private individuals. It is not a ranking of general marketing agencies or review software for retail businesses.

The five criteria

Each firm is scored from 0 to 10 on each criterion. The technical score is the weighted average of the five.

Suppression engineering

30%

The ability to displace a specific negative URL for a specific query and keep it displaced. We look for query-level planning, entity work and assets built to survive Google's helpful content systems, rather than volume publishing.

Removal & de-indexing

20%

Whether the firm checks lawful removal channels before proposing suppression. These include Google policy removals, Results About You, court-order requests, publisher outreach and Florida-specific remedies such as Section 901.43.

AI answer correction

20%

Whether the firm tests and corrects what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews say about a client, including citation tracing and entity correction.

Privacy & discretion

15%

Confidential intake, no public client lists, careful handling of sensitive facts, and data broker and personal information removal.

Senior involvement

15%

Who designs the plan and who is accountable for the result. Founder-led and senior-led engagements score higher than account-team models for single-result work.

Evidence

Scores are based on each firm's published service descriptions and public statements about method, its own search and AI answer footprint, independent coverage of the firm, and the handling of a confidential inquiry. We do not publish client names, and we do not rely on testimonials that cannot be verified.

What the scores do not measure

A lower score in this Index does not mean a firm does poor work. Several firms reviewed here are excellent at publicity, crisis response or review programs. The scores measure fit for technical search repair, which is a narrower discipline. Readers with a different problem, such as a live media crisis, may be better served by a firm that ranks lower here.

Publisher relationship

The Index is published in association with Search Result Repair, the firm ranked first. That relationship is disclosed on every ranking and explained on the disclosure page. Readers should weigh the rankings with that relationship in mind and compare firms directly.
